3-D Model of a Human Temporal Bone

This is a 3-D virtual model of a human temporal bone from a 14-year old male. The model was developed using archival 20 micron thick histologic sections.

 

 

3-D Model of Round Window and Related Cochlear Anatomy

This is a 3-D virtual model of the anatomy of the round window membrane and adjacent cochlear structures in the human. The model was developed using archival 20 micron thick histologic section s from a 14-year old male.

 

 

3-D Model of the Visible Ear

This is a 3-D virtual model developed from a library of digital images (the "Visible Ear") of a human temporal bone and surrounding structures from a 85-year old female. The "Visible Ear" was developed by Mads Sorensen, M.D. and colleagues at the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen, Denmark

 

3-D Model of the Incudostapedial Joint Complex

This is a 3-D virtual model of a human incudostapedial joint complex from the same right sided temporal bone used in the Temporal Bone and the Round Window models.  The model was developed using serial archival 20 micron thick histologic sections.  The special points of interest are: the pedicle of bone connecting the plate with the distal incus, and the notch in the bone on the anterior side of the distal incus fitted with the fibrous protrusion on the anterior side of the ligamental capsule.
An Audio Guide has been added to assist in observing the anatomical details.
